Create Your Website In 30 Minutes + Giveaway For Bloggers
You can have a website ready in 30 minutes and start blogging as soon as possible. There are certain things to consider before going ahead, read my post on that here and here before taking this next step.
If you’ve read the posts then you’re ready to take this exciting step. It might get a little technical but I’ll do my best to make this explanatory. Please read carefully. There is a giveaway at the end, so stay with me.
Having a website is an important step towards building a good brand for yourself and your business. You don’t have to be a writer to own a website, if you have a business or you have a product you want to sell, you should have a website. Sincerely, as an entrepreneur who is looking at innovative ways to grow, having a website is not optional.
There are different ways to go about this because there are various website platforms that allows you create a simple yet beautiful website. There are many out there with various options and different user interface. There are so many options; Blogger by Google, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, etc.
I’ll recommend you to use WordPress to build your website/blog because it’s what I use and;
- It is free to use (For starters)
- Easy to understand
- It has a community
WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS). Content Management Systems allow YOU to manage your website from a user friendly interface. You can make all the changes on your website from an admin area which is quite easy to understand, even for absolute beginners. Source:WPBeginner
To have a website, you’ll need;
- A domain name (a web address like yoursitename.com)
- Hosting (a service that connects your site to the internet)
To have a WordPress platform itself, you’ll get it for free, but to have your domain name and hosting, this will cost you around $3 – $5 a month which is equivalent to #1, 000 – #2,000 per month.
Having your own domain name would certainly give you a professional look (which is what I advise) but you can start small then save enough to upgrade. ( Keep reading for giveaway!)
You would want to check if the website name you have in mind is still available to use.
I don’t want to bore you with technical jargon, let me show you how to create a website/blog hosted under WordPress in less than 30minutes.
First log onto www.wordpress.com and you’ll see the page below…
Click on ‘Get Started’ on the top right beside ‘Log In’ and it takes you to the next page. The next page takes your information, like the name you want for your site, what your site is about and your primary goal.
After putting in this information, you’ll proceed to the next phase which is to choose your hosting plan. There is the premium plan that allows you have your domain without the WordPress.com. Example: girlfairydust.com instead of the free hosting plan www.girlfairydust.wordpress.com.
After you’ve selected the plan you wish to choose, WordPress shows you the charges and benefit of the plan you choose.
The above screenshot comes with selecting a plan that is not free. After few months of blogging, bloggers tend to get tired of WordPress fighting for the attention of their website name. The bill might be a bit discouraging but there’s good news and here comes the giveaway!!!
This is a super giveaway for upcoming bloggers and bloggers that already have a WordPress.com site. My host providers HostSleek are giving a whooping 50% discount on their hosting plans excluding the Mini plan.
This means, you can get an hosting plan plus domain name(s) for far less than you’ll pay of directly upgrading through WordPress. You can have a reasonable disk storage, free domain, up to 150 email accounts and much more with #2,000. Cool or super cool?!
