CHYKAH BRO: MEET THE FACEBOOK HUMOR QUEEN

By on February 5, 2018

You might say you’re not a fan of Facebook because you don’t have Chykah Bro  {Pronounced  Chai – Car – bro} on your feed.  Chikaodinaka Aliogo is one of the best people I’ve added up as a friend on Facebook. I found her through another Facebook friend decided to mention some people that interests him on Facebook and her name came up.

After checking out her Facebook profile, I found myself reading different posts she had written and found myself laughing my hats off. Chykah Bro has won herself a wonderful fan base with her writing and her readers are engaged with every theory, make believe and random thought she posts on her wall.

Chykah joined Facebook in 2012 and started writing in 2015, she now has over 2,000 followers on Facebook and keeps at least a thousand of them engaged from time to time.

This interview was inspired by the beauty of her creative writing, how she has made her Facebook wall a writing hub, entertaining her friends and followers at the same time passing a message that speaks to everyone.

One Thing to Emulate: You can start what you love to do anywhere, just create the platform.

T: Tell us about Chykah Bro?

Chykah Bro: About Chykah Bro, that has to be like the hardest question in the whole universe when people ask you to tell them about yourself, it’s kind of difficult to describe yourself because at that point you realize that you actually don’t know anything about yourself but yeah, I will go with the basics, not that A is for apple and the rest, but you know basically that I’m a girl. I’m reiterating I’m a girl because most people don’t know that I’m a girl. They think that I’m a boy because of the ‘bro’ in my name. So I’m a twin, I have a twin brother and I’m mentioning him because he is an important part of my life. I love him that much. I’m an accountant. I read accounting in school. I’m a Chartered Accountant.

I write on Facebook, yeah, that is why you are interviewing me right now but I won’t like to identify myself as a writer.  I have done some professional works before, I have written for blogs and I have helped people to edit their works but I don’t actually see myself as a writer yet until I kind of have published something on a site that is reputable and known for literary works like that. So I’m a reserved person, I am an realist. I am principled too. I have my reservations about a lot of things. Most times, I am quiet about certain issues but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of ideas flying in my head about them but I’ll rather not talk about it than talk.

I am very quiet but I know how to hold conversations. I don’t like talking. I don’t like noise. I don’t like too loud people. I am very very passionate about things that I hold dear. I hate injustice or discrimination or lies. I feel like if you cannot be true as a person, then you shouldn’t be a person at all because when you are identified as a liar, you have no… should I say foundation or roots, like a strong support system somebody can lean on so I try to identify myself with honesty so people know that they can count on me. I’m a creative thinker. I write people’s theory on Facebook and I use that appellation of science that way so that people will know that I’m not being serious about it, I’m just, you know, playing around actually.

I am a picky eater, will I say picky eater? I don’t really like eating so I can’t say picky eater. I don’t really like food that much. I have a weird relationship with food but I’m not doing it because I’m watching my weight. I’m actually slim already but I don’t just like eating. I like making friends but I do a very bad job of keeping them. If you want to be my friend, you have to do like the major bulk of the work. I like honest people so I’m actually attracted to people who are honest, people who have good spirit but you know, I really don’t like interfering in people’s lives so I don’t like people thinking I’m disturbing them, so I like staying on my own because of that.

So if you can’t do a good job of keeping me as your friend, we might actually miss the connection but once a friend, always a friend for me. When I remember something good, I’ll always ring up or call you.

I’m currently unemployed but not for long. I have prospects of working in so many places right now. I’m just waiting for the feedback. I’m a big thinker. I have huge dreams basically for myself and this country anyway. I’m just, you know, not just ready to do them, just one step at a time writing my plans and getting the stuff I need to do right now.

Okay, yeah, I’m into tall guys because you know, I’m not tall myself. That’s by the way. Any other question you have for me, I will let you know as we go on with this interview.

T: That’s interesting, especially the aspect of not liking food but why did you pick Chykah Bro as your Facebook name?
Chykah Bro:  The Chykah is a nickname I picked when I left secondary school. It used to be Chike because I was a tomboy.

The bro was a spur of the moment kinda thing. Prior to the day I named myself bro, I always got called Bro. Maybe it was because of the nature of my posts, but a lot of people thought I was a guy. So one day, I just decided to help them define it. It was only supposed to stay three months. But, I fell in love with it.

T: What Inspired you to start writing on Facebook?

Chykah Bro: Reading people and seeing that I too could write as good as they did. And you know, I always wanted to have a blog but I’m too lazy for that. Facebook helps me conquer such Laziness.

I started in 2015 officially. I just began penning down my thoughts and I did so consistently. The feedback I got inspired me to do more.

T: Do your writing reflect the way you’re in person or you’re a different person in person?

Chykah Bro: Both. My writing is mostly inspired by life experiences and boredom(for when I think up crazy theories).

I know how to separate both but you can still find a connection.

T: How do you come up with content that connects with your friends on Facebook and what’s your writing process like?

Chykah Bro:  Content? I don’t know. I’m a chill person and I have a good sense of humor. So whatever I’m writing, even though I’m announcing the death of someone, there should be a little sense of humor in it.

I’m a spontaneous Thinker. I don’t know what I would be thinking the next minute or tomorrow. So I can’t say there is a reservoir where I get my content from. Writing prowess? Gotta be humor.

T: Do you see Facebook as a blog wall?
Chykah Bro: I feel it is anyway. It’s just that we aren’t getting paid. I’m hoping Mark Zuckerberg would see into a good future where he earns and we earn too. It would be a good way to encourage writers and content developers like we have in Steemit.

T: What benefits have you gotten from being engaging on Facebook?

Chykah Bro:  Nothing is better than the kind words I get in my inbox. The people who say I inspire them. The ones who make me their mentors. The ones who bless my pockets.

The job I got which wasn’t even related to my writing. He just needed a transparent accountant.

The friends. Too numerous to mention.

T: Your really do have a great sense of humor, you’ve even created different categories for your Facebook posts like the ‘Hypothesis’, ‘If Human Series’, tell us how you transitioned into doing this?

Chykah Bro: The hypothesis for the months was just an out of the box inspiration I got when I wrote the month of April. I felt if April got one, others should. And like that I just began seeing things in a new light, trying to connect the lines. Seeing far more than was on the surface level.

The if human series came because of the thoughts I have. I feel everything that’s on this earth have life in them.

I didn’t even know Nickelodeon did something of that nature until I watched the channel one day and saw that they gave life to toilet paper and tooth brush and I thought to myself “You aren’t mad after all”

T: You get over 500 likes on some of your posts, have you ever thought of going beyond Facebook and starting a blog? If yes, why haven’t you started?

Chykah Bro: I mentioned earlier Laziness. The average Nigerian doesn’t like stress. And if something is going to take them away from Facebook, it better be worth it.

I would start a blog soon. I just want something that’s directional and would open doors for people. Until I’m done drafting my plans, the blog option stays open.

T: How frequently are you online? Do you schedule some of your posts or it’s all fresh?

Chykah Bro: I have reading time. So I read in the wee hours of the day. When I’m done reading, I log into my Facebook account. I stay there for sometime and log out. My Facebook activity is majorly determined by how busy I get. If I’m less busy, I spend more time online.

My posts are always fresh.

T: What’s your favorite post so far?

Chykah Bro: This pun I wrote using numbers. I appreciated my brain after. I legit said, “Thank you ma, for choosing me”

T: Can you mention some writers that you love?
Chykah Bro: Danielle Steele. John Grisham. Dhee Sylvester.

T: How do you deal with writers block and your advice to writers?
Chykah Bro: I don’t feel pressured to deliver. So, I can’t say I have writer’s block. I just go with the flow. If it ain’t coming, it isn’t my forte. Lol, asking me to advice writers is agreeing that I’m a writer.

Well, just do you. However, whichever, whenever, just do you. Don’t lose yourself trying to meet up to some kind of expectation.

While Chyka Bro is one of my closest friends, I’ve only just learned how to pronounce her Facebook name right. Quite a revealing interview. Beautiful photos too. By the way, I would have loved to see my name after Dhee’s, but I’m not a writer. Haha.

  • Vision is a big deal!
Thanks to @inumidun_dami I’ll like to share the few points I shared in church on Sunday about Vision. ————————- Title: What do you see?
•God is a visionary
•God was specific about His Vision
•Vision helps you prepare to make the impossible possible •It’s more than the figment of your imagination.
•Vision requires faith
•You need to write down your vision. Hab. 2:2-3 —————— These things can stop your vision 👇🏽 - Forgetting your vision Prov. 29:18 Hab 2:2-3
- Using the past to look at the present - Doing the wrong things that affect your vision - Focusing on the wrong source to bring your vision to realization. ——————
Vision enables you to see. God has His vision for you and He wants you to be able to see it.
If you keep living without a vision, you’re living blindly. A blindfold person cannot arrive at a destination faster than a person that can see.
What do you see?
